Meet Our Staff
Nick is the President of Newton Bonding, which he founded in 2014 after 25 years in the surety industry. He began his career in surety with Western Surety Company, serving as Minnesota Marketing Rep for 2.5 years before being promoted to Western Region Marketing Supervisor, in charge of marketing rep production for more than a dozen states. He joined United Fire & Casualty in 1992 to perform surety marketing and field underwriting for the State of Minnesota.
After 7 years on the surety company side, Nick spent 13 years building his surety book and forging surety and insurance relationships at 3 different agencies prior to forming Newton Bonding.
Nick is the current 3rd Vice President and Chair of the 2020 Annual Program Committee for the National Association of Surety Bond Producers (NASBP). He previously served on the Board of Directors as both a Regional Director and Director-at-Large. Nick is also a Past Chair of the Automation & Technology, Membership, and Ethics Committees. He is a Faculty Member of the NASBP Surety School, and also serves on the Commercial Surety, Professional Development, Government Affairs, Ethics, Membership, and Small & Emerging Contractor Committees, as well as the NASBP/SFAA Surety Forms Working Group. He sits on the NASBP Virtual Seminar Editorial Board, and has contributed content to AFSB course revisions and several NASBP online educational courses. He is past President of both the Minnesota Surety Association (1995-1996) and the Minnesota Association for Guardianship & Conservatorship (2006-2010)
Jenny is the Vice President of Newton Bonding, which she helped form in 2014. She began her career with Assured Protection, working as a CSR for 3 years, prior to moving to Green Tree Finance where she also spent 3 years working as an insurance CSR. She then moved to United Funding for 2 years as an Administrative Assistant in their Titling Department, helping develop their in-house insurance agency. When United Funding closed she took an insurance CSR job with Associated Insurance Agents, until 2004 when she joined St Paul Agency (BW Insurance). At BW, she spent time in both personal and commercial lines insurance. In 2012, she transitioned to the surety industry to assist Nick with his surety bond book of business. At Newton Bonding she is responsible for the internal procedures, work flows, and accounting.
Jenny attained her CISR designation in 2001.
Monica graduated from Crown College in 2008 with her Bachelor’s degree in Communication. She entered the insurance industry as a receptionist for Associated Insurance Agents. The following December Monica obtained her insurance license and became a CSR in the commercial insurance department. A few months later she joined Nick and Associated Bonding. When Nick left in 2011, Monica handled the bonds at AIA as a Commercial Account CSR. In 2014, she was promoted to an account manager. She joined Newton Bonding in 2015, and currently handles new and renewal commercial surety bonds.
For 23 years, Amy developed her career at Cedarleaf, Inc., starting as a receptionist and administrative assistant before earning a number of promotions to CSR and licensing coordinator. As a CSR, Amy reviewed workers’ compensation modifications, received and prepared bid bond requests, and managed the day-to-day relations with new and existing clients. Amy has held her insurance license since 1993. Aside from her career at Cedarleaf, Amy has worked in banking, printing, manufacturing, logistics, each posing a new opportunity to experience a different type of industry while also allowing her to use her excellent customer service and organization skills. Amy manages our contract files, handling all bid and performance bond requests.
